It had finally snowed where I got to see it in Germany a few days before the flight...so this is the view of my forest from my classroom:
I flew out of Germany somewhat early in the day on 2/2/12 so that I could be in California for little miss PD to come into the world. Of course she was not due until the weekend, and it was doubtful she was going to make an appearance for my birthday, which is only right since everyone should have their own birthday. So this is kind of a mixture of before PD, after PD's birth, etc...which I will more than likely add to rather than completing a new blog for more pictures.
So I made it into San Diego airport at a little after 9 pm on 2/2/12 and there is Nikki in all her 9 months pregnant glory. You have to understand that seemed a bit odd, since I had been told that her and little man Jake were going to pick me up, but little man was no where to be found. Low and behold his father had gotten the night off from his second job and so they were circling the airport waiting on us.
Luckily, thanks in the most part to Skype, little man knew who I was and was happy to see me. Man, I love the feeling of being gone so long and having a happy loving welcome by my boys. Got it in Colorado at Christmas got in in California this trip :)
Oh yeah, before I forget, some ocean pictures from the flight over.
Hehehe, funny story from before making it to California. My flight went from Frankfurt to Atlanta with a connection to San Diego. Funny thing about Atlanta, as I was checking in with border checkpoint etc...like you always have to do when you fly in on an international flight so they can check your passport and ask you if you brought in all sorts of things, etc...it got kind of scary when my passport was placed into this big red envelope (actually the envelope is clear plastic but it had a read trim all around) and I was asked by the ever so nice (not really actually he seemed to have no personality at all) guy on duty to please follow him. So I did, and was promptly delivered to homeland security. Now if I was a bad person or had some bad record I could understand this, but I am not. I am escorted in and told to give the envelope to the officer at the desk...and of course they couldn't be bothered to notice me for a bit. Finally one looks up takes the envelope and tells me to have a seat and they will get to me when they can (the room was full of all sorts of people). I take a seat, and of course listen in as the agents (officers? whatever they are called) are questioning others. "why were you deported in ...? Where is your wife? We know you have a wife, where is she? What other names do you go by?" That sort of thing.
So I am sitting there for a while, glad that I had a few hours between flights, thinking to myself, no one seems to be leaving. Meanwhile one guy at the desk is saying something about wanting to arrest this guy, and next thing you know he is being brought in and they are asking him questions about everything. So I start thinking maybe I wont make my flight and boy would that really irritate me, especially since I have no cell phone that is good in the States, since I ordered one from Best Buy and it has been sitting in New Jersey for a few weeks waiting to be sent over to Germany (by the way, if you ever move to Germany and see that something that has been mailed to you is sitting in New Jersey, dont plan on seeing it in the near future). I look around and listen to all these people talking softly, with all sorts of accents and think to myself, "I am the only one in here that is a US Citizen...well crud what in the world could they think I did?"
Then the nice younger guy with a smile on his face calls me up. He tells me, "I can't really tell you why you were brought in here as I am not allowed to, but there is a little mixup with your name." He then hands me this paper telling me how to contact homeland security to give a complaint about being brought in...and he said it might get me more information on why I was brought in. Anyway, he then chit chats with me and tells me not to worry that its not me that they need and that he will put some notes in my file so that hopefully I wont be held up again. Then next thing I know, I am out of there...before all these other people who obviously are cursing me in their minds because I sail in (ok not exactly sail, but faster than them) and sail out rather fast.
Sure its kind of funny after the fact, but scary as all get out at the time!
Ok, back to California time, as I obviously made my flight and got in.

On my birthday morning, Jake and Nikki went to the store and brought me back flowers that he had picked out :) |
Then once we got BJ to get a move on, we went to Sea World for my birthday. Its not quite the same now that Busch doesn't own it...kind of sad to not have beer tasting (without paying for it) and the Clidesdales.

This morning Jake and I went to the hospital to see her and Nikki, of course. Needless to say, Jake was not overjoyed at the situation. I am not so sure he was displeased with PD, but was not happy and let it be known.
Much as he was not happy about the situation, he did give little sister a kiss. |
Needless to say, he was wiped out after his crankiness at the hospital so snoozed on the drive down to La Jolla to go to the Birch Aquarium. |
Jake befriended a little boy, also named Jake and proceeded to play with him for a little while. Thank goodness for homeschool day, as that is why the little boy was there. |
Can't go to Birch without the picture with the Scripps Pier in the background. |
After the aquarium we made another try at going to see little sister. This time worked much better.
So that was basically the first day in the life of little miss PD (Prudence DiAnna for those that are curious).
There was one last thing I wanted to add. Just a little video, because yes, once again, I have struck and now Jake is say "dont know" for things. It all started with trying to get the sound to work on the tv and then just escalated, but he looks so cute saying it after we had tried to skype with Nikki while they were at the hospital attempting to have PD.
