10/29/11 House and Fall in Germany

Really not much to say...not much going on. I did go and get my keys today for the house. I also have delivery scheduled for my household goods, so needless to say in the next two weeks between the delivery of household goods/unaccompanied baggage, and my stuff from FMO (the washer/dryer, refrigerator, wardrobes, microwave...yes the military is nice and puts these things in the house for my use so I don't have to buy them) and the many days of teacher workdays (on this week for inputting grades, two the next week for parent teacher conferences...funny thing, I don't give grades and I have no conferences scheduled) then Veterans Day...I only really work 3 days in the next two weeks. It will seem odd, but luckily there are only a few days I need a sub so its not like someone else will be doing my work.

What I do need to cross my fingers on is getting my internet set up quickly at the house. I cant imagine not having internet...its my life line to the States. Without internet, I cant play on Facebook, I cant video chat with the grand-babies/kids/family, I cant call home (it would be a fortune to call on a regular phone but not bad at all on Skype phone)...you see the problem. I don't mind not having TV, but I don't like not being able to talk with my "peeps" ;-D

So, knowing there has really been nothing outstanding going on, I did get some more pictures of the house...the inside none the less. Before you look, keep in mind, it is really difficult to get pictures of rooms. Let alone these are empty rooms. But soon they will have more in them (OK, maybe not all the rooms will but many will). I am also putting on some pictures from around this area. Germany definitely gets the seasons, and the gold, red, green, and browns are so pretty. Unfortunately, its also overcast often, so its difficult to get it on a picture, but hopefully you will get the gist.

From the front door

Last week there were leaves on the tree in the back yard, today there were none.

Upstairs:

not sure what you would call this room...its off the front entry...I suppose its a coat room.

main level bathroom

front foyer
dining room
living room.

Basement:
basement bathroom

basement bedroom

if it hadnt been ruined for a former occupant this would have been a second kitchen...instead, I think it will be the storage room for my teaching stuff, in the basement

basement living room

basement foyer (a second entrance)

part of the stairway

Then there are some Fall pictures of the area.
Ok, this doesnt look very Fall like, but it is quite pretty...its the courtyard  for a little restaurant/hotel in Hoheneken. I was at training at the restaurant (yes, they have a room for conferences) and got to look out at this for two days.

Notice the sign says LVIS gate...this was the area that Elvis landed at in Ramstein when he came to Germany...kind of funny (in a sick way) that right under Elvis' gate is cold storage...but I have a sick way of looking at things sometimes.

This is in Kaiserslautern...such lovely streets.

This is my village (Hochspeyer)

Coming into Hochspeyer from Johanniskreuz

As you see there weren't many pictures, but if it's any consolation, I will be going to Paris for Veterans Day weekend, so there should be a number of pictures then :)
