Been a long time...but I am back, and in Prague, CZ

It seems I have been remiss (really remiss) in working on this blog. I somehow got out of practice of doing it and then time just passed by, but my Dad really likes when I post to this, so here I am back at it, and we will see what happens.

I spent a month and a half of my summer time in the States, which was great by the way. Had a week in AZ with mom and Jack went along...we had a great time to include a visit to Bearizona. The rest of the time was spent in Colorado, including 5 days of camping in a great spot in the Collegiate Peaks Campground...and a day at the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs, where I proceeded to get sunburnt so bad that I peeled twice.

I came back to Europe on August 4th landing on August 5th. August 6th I picked up mail and you got it, today, August 7th on a road trip to Prague, Czech Republic. Now you have to understand, much as I have wanted to come to Prague, I never have until now. So, we got up bright and early, greeted by a bit of rain. By the time we reached the Czech border it was sunshine and needless to say it was a scorcher of a day. (Around 93 degrees plus the humidity). It felt great in the car (with the A/C blasting, but not exceptionally comfy when walking around, but we pressed on.

Once we got to our hotel (too early to check in) we went to a restaurant up the street (the Legenda). It was a most pleasant surprise. I went with Jedno Pivo Prosim (one beer please)...a locally liked beer, and one of the best meals I can recall since being in Europe. I had this amazingly tender chicken breast with sauteed mushrooms and a delicious bleu cheese sauce, along with a Greek salad. It truly was a delicious meal.

After our decidedly great lunch we decided to visit the Bone Church, not too far outside of Prague. 40000 human bodies (or at least their bones) decorate this church...it all started long ago when an Abbott traveled to Jerusalem and brought back some soil, making the church grounds very holy...everyone wanted to be buried there...the real problem arose when the plague came along and a lot of extra people died. So it was left to a half blind monk to arrange the bones in an ossuary...300 years later another person rearranged them into the artistic renderings now presented at the church. The church is in Kutna Hora. For more info: http://www.sedlecossuary.com/

As much as I enjoyed (although that seems an odd choice of words for this visit) seeing the bone church I loved, loved, loved the sunflower fields on the drive there.

The following are some pictures of building near our hotel as well as from our walk in the evening by the museum and along the walk in front of it.

I just found this amusing.

This guy was trying to be one of the statues at the museum.

And that ends the first day in Prague. All in all the people are very friendly and polite. With any luck our second day will not be quite so hot and humid....fingers crossed.

By the way thanks Jennifer and Jeanne for the weekend...you guys are amazing travel buddies.
