Prague: second day (aka oh my aching feet)

Happy 8 August...why happy? Because I am still in Prague! Yes, yes, I know, I always said that Paris was my favorite place in Europe (with the possible exception of Rothenburg ob der Tauber) but this trip has made me rethink that idea. Prague is a lovely place with very friendly and polite people and beautiful architecture too (everywhere, not just in specific areas).

Our plans changed slightly today, but still a wonderful time was had (despite the weather man being way off, because yes, it was hot and humid again today). So we got up early...way too early for me since I couldn't get to sleep until about 1 am, but it was good to get a start. Went down to a nice breakfast (about the only thing positive about this hotel..if you are ever visiting Prague do not stay at the Louis Leger Hotel...its not bad but not good either...things like the wifi not working well, supposed reserved parking not being available, no a/c when it is 90+, that sort of thing...besides it is kind of out of the way too).

We then started on our days journey...walking down by the museum and on to the tourist information center to pick up our Prague cards (definitely a worthwhile purchase since it includes transportation), but the problem was that we got up so early we had to kill an extra hour before the office was open. What to do, what to do? Well, walk around of course. The following are pictures from our walk (Hotel till we got on the tour bus...we got a free bus tour with our Prague card, so why not), and yes, as always, I still have a fascination with the building faces, doors, and doorknobs, so of course there are some in this mix. :)

This is not a regular hallway...no, this is the driveway to get to the parking area of the hotel (if you are lucky enough to actually get to park there)

Not that this is exceptional graffiti, at all, but most in Prague is rather boring...so this one really popped!

This is the Powder Tower or Powder Gate. The Powder Gate can trace its origins back to the 11th century, when  the original gate was one of 13 entrances to Prague's Old Town.Work on the present structure began during the reign of King Vladislav II in 1475 and was modelled on the Old Town Bridge Tower, built a century earlier.
Originally known as the New Tower, its name was changed to the Powder Gate in the 17th century when it was used to store gunpowder.

Once our time was up, it was off to the bus tour of Prague.

Prague really is the city of music...there are musicians playing everywhere...this band reminded me a lot of Nat King Cole...or the band in Aristocats. I could have sat and listened to them a long time; they were really good.

Markie Mark? (read the name under the person)
