Yes, I know, the title of this sounds rather rude, but truly, it is rather sad to think that the beautiful gold, crystal, velvet, marble, and more of Versailles (while beautiful) meant that the common people were starving. Sad when you think about it. But that being said, we started our visit to Versailles at the market (yet another Notre Dame). While it will never rival my favorite market (the Bastille/Richard Lenoire market) in Paris, it was still a nice market, and beats what we have here in Germany (since there are few regular markets here...at least not many that I can think of). Oh my the smells...it was amazing, with the smell of fresh fruit and veggies, the aroma of fresh spices, and the baked items and roasted chickens...amazing!

Oh those wacky French people...I was taking this picture and I guess a lady (term being used loosely) in the same general direction must have thought I was taking her picture...all of a sudden she starts yelling in french then english, no taking the picture and no posting on the net. Well nanny nanny lady, I am posting the picture of the garlic on the net. |
