Once we were done in Versailles we decided to go to Nancy, France. Why? You might ask, and the only answer could be, why not? So we set the GPS for Nancy and we were off. Oh, I forgot to tell you, we set the GPS to avoid toll roads (lots of them in France)...figuring we would see better sights (of course we weren't thinking about the fact that we were leaving Versailles at about 4 pm which meant only a few hours of sunlight left in the day...but off we went. Somehow, ending up going through Paris, again, but then out.
The non-toll road did have its merits, as we came across some interesting things:

For the life of me, I cannot remember what these kinds of clouds are called...the part in the upper right area...I have a more specific pic below...the part that is not fluffy and looks like someone tried to erase the clouds out...anyone know what that part is called? |
As you can see the sun was about to set, but that doesn't end our story, no, not even close. While we couldn't figure out exactly what was going on, somehow the GPS took us north rather than east (which is the direction we needed to go to Nancy)...strange what a GPS will do when you tell it no toll roads. By about 9 pm we are somehow in Belgium, then in Luxembourg (neither is near the general direction of Nancy) so we ended up just driving back to Germany and went to our own homes. Sure wish there was a way to find out how the GPS got us all turned around.
